The settings here are for users with charts available from a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server. This will make the initial download of charts and then periodically check for updates.
Only files will be downloaded from the server, no directories. Individual chart files may be used in some cases, such as for S-57 base cells (files ending in .000) or KAP (.kap) files. Overlays, Markup (.markup) and other files can be included as well. For situations where many charts are being provided, best practice is to provide chart data in ZIP archive files.
Chart Files (Only SEAiq Pilot) : View currently downloaded chart files.
From time to time, you may wish to remove old update files. After deleting such files be sure to press Update to download any parts of those files that might still be needed.
Protocol (Only SEAiq Pilot) : Select type of FTP connection to use. FTP is the long-standing insecure protocol. FTPS is FTP over a secure TLS connection. SFTP is secure FTP over SSH. The default is FTP.
Important: The protocol you select must be supported on the server.
Important: because of limitations in platform software, on most platforms the SFTP and FTPS are proxied through our server.
Download Updates (Only SEAiq Pilot) : Pressing this triggers an attempt to download charts from FTP. You must be connected to the internet and have an account registered with the FTP service. The update continues in the background.
This capability can be used for your initial chart download as well as for periodic updates.
You can see the status being updated as the download proceeds. A notification is given when complete.
Keep in mind updates can be quite large. You may want to wait until you are connected to a high speed internet connection before downloading updates for your charts.
Erase All Charts (Only SEAiq Pilot) : This button erases all your FTP charts, after confirmation. This cannot be undone. You can download the files again. You can erase chart files individually by going to the Charts listing and pressing Edit.
This may be useful when changing accounts to clear out old files. Also, we recommend doing this periodically to reduce the number of update files present on your device.
